These are *not* the easiest birds to photograph! Got down and low for this, and waited, and waited, and waited.....finally!

Herons are typically quite shy birds.
Took me almost an hour to get within about 50 feet as this GBH was pruning itself perched on a tree leaning over the water.

This Great Blue Heron has returned to a local nesting spot. Due to the risk of spooking these birds (and others), I tend to often shoot from the car window using the door as my tripod.
