Love these little Chickadees. All I need to do is to stand still and presto....there here!

The wintertime offers some great plumage on the local feathered creatures.

An offering of a handfull of seed was eagerly accepted. :)

And so I had decided to explore what I could do with photoshop and ended up with this.

I wanted to dramatically bring attention to those gorgeous yellow eyes.

A great day of shooting culminated with this Snowy Owl on Wolfe Island. What a treat!

With todays snow and wind, it provided some great candid photo opps.

Using LR3, all the colors were desaturated except for blue.

Today's mini ice-storm provided some unique birding photos. There's a few spots in Kingston where the robins stay throughout the winter if there's plenty of food.

And so these poor eagles get hassled not just by by the neighbourhood crows, but the gulls get into the act as well.

American Bald Eagles are back in Kingston!
There have been several reports and sightings for the past few weeks of both adult and juvenile balds.

This was taken just as I was finishing my lunch...what a treat!

Was quite surprised when I went looking for Bald Eagles along the Kingston waterfront and when I looked up, this Peregrine Falcon was sitting up in the tree not paying me any mind.

Managed this shot of a buck at Lemoines Point Conservation Area as the sun was rising. Set my metering to Partial-Spot on the animal and presto!

And so this has to be one of the most beautiful birds I've yet to photograph, truly magnificent!

I'm looking forward to seeing a bit of snow to challenge my composition skills!

Snowy Owl

Had a really great morning on Amherst Island with this Snowy. Am learning the fine art of "how to approach" this beautiful bird.

Think this will remain to be a memorable image for some time to come. About 250 feet away at the top of a tree, this female is searching for an early morning feed. Exposing for good detail in it's white feathers will be an important consideration and challenge, especially when the snow arrives.

Finally, my first Snowy!
I have been looking for this opportunity for the last 2 winters...what an amazing bird.

Too bad I didn't take the time to expose properly for the sun side of the bird to get better detail....but next time. :)
